Qualifications and History:
I am a qualified clinical social worker and psychotherapist. I received my Bachelor of Science and Masters of Social Work from Brigham Young University in the United States, where I was clinically trained and received marks roughly equivalent to a UK honours degree. I also earned an Associates Degree in Social Science from Ricks College (Now Brigham Young University-Idaho). I was a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in both the States of Idaho and Utah, where I worked as a psychotherapist for the Idaho Falls LDS Family Services agency for six years.
Since making Wales my home, I have experience as a Family Intervention Therapist for a programme called Option 2-doing long-term, intensive crisis intervention work with families facing addiction and family concerns and also experience as a social worker for Cardiff County Council as well as maintaining a private practice since 2007. I am registered with the Care Council of Wales as well as having membership in the British Association of Social Workers and abiding by both their codes of ethics.
Other previous experience also includes work with addiction (Option 2, Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan; and The Gathering Place, Orem, UT), community mental health support (Wasatch Mental Health, Provo, UT) and work in the New York LDS Family Services Agency.
